    High above in the night sky the stars sparkled brightly as they danced in various patterns across the beautiful darkness that swallowed equestria in its wake. Underneath this natural beauty stood the Castle of the Dreams, home to all that roam the shadows leaving most nights were relatively peaceful around this castle. But tonight held a different matter for tonight was full of excitement for the King and Queen of the Night were holding a Gala in celebration of the holiday of Nightmare Night. 

     Though the party was held on the main floor of the castle with almost everypony in equestria there, a lone stallion clothed with armor that guarded his teal coat was located clear on the other side of the castle in the royal hallways. He trotted to one of the bedroom doors, once there he calmly excused the two guards standing watch to the party down below, then proceeded forward and gave the large door a swift yet gentle knock notifying the pony inside he was there. “Princess Andromeda,” he spoke into the still air around him, “The Gala has already begun downstairs. Your parents were curious of the where-a-bouts of your absence.” He paused behind the door for a few moments before he continued, “Is everything alright?”

    Andromeda's sightless eyes were closed, as she listened to the sounds of the night coming through her window. Distantly, she could hear the hustle and bustle of other ponies and the music coming from the gala; she wasn't one for parties, too many sounds and someone was always trying to guide her. The princess' ears twitched when she heard a knock on her door and relaxed when she heard the familiar voice but frowned at the question it posed.

    "I am aware the gala began." She sighed, standing up and finding her way to the door, using her magic to open it, "My parents should know very well that I'm not fond of such things." Her eyes were focused on the guard even though she couldn't actually see him, "There is nothing wrong."

    The a familiar scent of salt water wafted in the air as she opened the doors to her room, though it was faint it always seemed to cling to the stallion before her. Naturally he bowed his head slightly to her presence before speaking again, “They predicted that was the case, and requested that I accompany you this evening.” His head rose up revealing his sharp emerald eyes which glowed naturally with darkness around the both of them.

    She shook her head, turning to go back into her room, "They know very well why I don't want to be there." She sighed, "I do not need a guide. There's just too many others down there and I dislike crowds." The mare walked away from the open door and sat back down by the window; her back facing the stallion.

    Despite remaining at his post by the open doorway the guard was briefly taken aback by her response. Lowering his head he shook it slowly as he responded with a slight yet flustered laugh, “Heh, forgive me Princess allow me to rephrase. Your parents did not wish for you to attend the gala against your wishes.” He watched her leave to the opposite side of the room and sit down, “I am not here as your guide, I am simply here for you until the gala is over.”

    "I don't need company though."

    The stallion briefly nodded to her response, “I see,” he commented calmly. “… Well if you wish to be left to yourself for the evening princess I’ll remain posted outside your Chamber doors then for the rest the evening.” Gingerly taking a step forward he placed a hoof on the door handle to her room and began to close it.

    "You don't have to go. You're more than welcome to stay in here."

    The gigantic doors’ weary creaks came to a halt as he paused his movements, “As you wish then.” Though faint a smile appeared upon his face as he stepped inside and shut the doors behind himself.
